When an interviewer asked Dr. Pepperberg about Alex, she answered that she "would always have an Alex-shaped hole in her heart." I think we all feel the same way. It's obvious that you have a Kiwi-shaped hole in your heart, Leslie. Fly free, little angel.

Leslie, I never forgot that thread on the "old board" where you began the struggle to give Kiwi the life and love she deserved. And what a wonderful life you two had together, although way too short. And in regard to dealing with the loss of such a special friend, I know that time mixes the grief with joy.

Thank you so much..yes, she had a rough start...and I remember how nervous I was with her...she was so tiny yet full of spunk and life. We had a great three years. I remember looking forward to my last day of school in June this year as I wanted to spend the wholen summer giving her lots of love and attention. It was only a week after my last day of work that she passed...so suddenly and way too soon.
