My goffin does this some too. He seems happy and relaxed when he does it, maybe it's a way to stretch his neck.

hahaha ok, just asking, i thought maybe it was like cockatiels when they do that they are wanting a mate, or atleast mine did, lol
i just thought maybe he was trying to tell me mom i want a friend lol
he only started this the last 3 night ago before we go to bed, he goes to his cage at 10pm then acts like this for about 20 minutes lol really funny and then he says good night maaaaaaaa and then goes to his cage lol
then i HAVE to give him a kiss and say night night smokey see you in morning or he will scream bloody murder if i dont till i do it

Sounds like he is (or was) excited about something! Sometimes you have to be wary of a sexually mature cockatoo displaying like that, but depending on your 'too and his way of expressing his manliness, it depends. But I would say be cautious when he is excited and always calm and on the balls of you feet.

No, I don't think a dog's heat cycle would affect a bird's hormone cycles. I think it was just a coincidence.
