question about pm conversations

I'm wondering if someone will be kind enough to explain why I see no 'start a new conversation' link on my 'conversations' popup? I also see no provision to directly message another member within their forum posts. My date of birth isn't the issue - I'm plenty old enough. Thanks in advance.

Yes we employ a minimum post count to enable PMs to protect our members from spam. Otherwise people could make a new account and fire off all sorts of filth and junk to people
