My conure looks like he has lots of quills. Is this his molting stage? I don't remember him having this last year??? He looks and feels like a pin cushion. Is there anything I can do for him?

You can help him with the ones he can't reach himself on his head and neck. You can crack the little tips off the ends to help the feather come out by gently rolling them in your fingers. Once you've done it for a while you get good at it. Only do the tips and and the portion that is ready to come off. Stay at least a 1/2 an inch away from the blood line. If you get too close to where it's sensitive your bird will yelp and let know your not doing it right.

I love pinfeathers! I say that is my de-stresser. I could sit for hours allopreening my guys and they would let me.

This is one way I become tolerated by a lot of the birds at the rescue that I volunteer at. They use me.

Have fun!!
