Being the helicopter budgie mom i am, i caught it pretty quickly. I noticed last night he started leaning slightly to the right, but was still walking and maneuvering fine. I check his foot, and he has a very small pink spot (i can try to catch a photo if needed) it seems to be the sore has just started.

How do I go about treating this? I dont think he needs to start meds yet, as it has just started, but I want to stop it from getting worse

If he has developed a pressure point, you need to find the cause.
Sometimes it's pain in the opposite side of body causing them to out to much weight on the side that developed the pressure point.
Or it can be not enough perches of different sizes . More likely when perch is too small , or dowels , or with sand perch... or it can be a wound from something...or ?

So it is kinda hard to know based on just information of a red spot and leaning. I think a picture would help, and telling us about his set up, if he lives with other birds that might have bitten him?

Plus we love to see cute birds! :)

Sorry for the late reply! Been super busy at this house. PSA: your bf’s pics wont get the full picture :roflmao: this is their set up though, nothing on the bottom half of the cage

the weirdest part is that these are all perches and toys he’s used for the full three years of his life. I wrapped up a couple of perches i thought *might* be the cause (the big long one in the upper right, it was pretty smooth even though it was natural wood, and a perch outside his cage from a playstand that is also too smooth) but it still has me stumped since he has used everything for years with no issues.

Good news is that he stopped leaning and uses his foot like normal now. The sore is still there though. Is it possible its from overuse? the past year we had only let him out for two hours a day; now we have moved again and someone is almost always home to let him out, so he is out of the cage anywhere from 6-10 hours a day.

i managed to get a picture of the sore. the actual sore hasn’t improved at all, he just stopped favoring it. but i have noticed he’s opting to sleep on the flat perches more than usual (though its not entirely abnormal for him to sleep on them)
i’m still stumped. but getting more wrap tonight to wrap the rest of the perches to be on the safe side

Great job in getting a pic! I know how hard that mixt have been , so kudos to you!

I'm generally not a fan of vet wrapping perches , it gets nasty....while many other folks are fans

His skin looks a little dry and flaky to me..does he eat his veggies? Eating veggies helps keep skin , beak feathers in good condition.
You might also want to increase the humidity in your home

his skin is dry from a recent anti-fungal treatment (they get AGY flareups) it usually goes away within a couple of weeks
