Thank you for your advice!I give Kaladin TOP's. The only place I'm aware of that sells it that's located in Canada is unapproved vendor. I live in the US and have gotten stuff from them before, and they have some awesome toys for small birds, as well as other supplies. I wish shipping to the US was cheaper from them so I could buy more stuff from them more often. The stuff they sell is also way cheaper than pretty much anything I've found in the US. Buuuuut the shipping for me isn't worth it unless you buy a ton all at once. I'm assuming it's more reasonable if you live in Canada.
Ah, shoot. It's an unapproved vendor.
Thank you so much for your suggestion! But it is a little more expensive than the other place I found it at. But thank you for your time!Things for Wings in Canada sells TOPS.
Aww...he sounds so cute. Thank you for your suggestion!Roudybush Mini Daily Maintenance pellets for me. It's available at my local exotics store and about $27 CA. Oscar just loves it, he will wait for me to serve his pellets and than he gobbles them up as soon as they land in his bowl. While it's rather pricey for a bag of pellets, it is really great and lasts about a few months.
Okay! Thank you so much for all the different brands! You're birds and dog are very cute!I researched pellets really hard when I got the budgie babies and I generally see the same 5 brands circulating as healthy recommendations.. Tops, Roudybush, Harrisons, Lafeber, and Zupreem.
The first three are possibly "better" but Lafeber and Zupreem are still very good, and might be the easiest to get. They are available basically everywhere - chain stores, chewy, amazon..
We ended up with Zupreem naturals by default, as this is what the budgie's breeder weaned them onto.
I tried various methods of tempting them over to roudybush but they said nah. I would have tried Harrisons or Tops but I started worrying about expiration dates, since the tiny guys were taking forever just to get through a bag of Zupreem.
Our vet (certified avian specialist) told me Zupreem is a perfectly good/healthy food and she is not concerned about the sugar in it, which is the main con usually cited against them.
Both of our local rescues mainly use Zupreem also, so I decided to just let it be.
Then I got Opie and Oggie who were fed Zupreem fruit flavor in their former home. I'm weaning them over to naturals because I refuse to have their daily diet contain sugar AND dye, but I guess we are fully stuck with Zupreem now!
@Oscarbird - are the ones you get the same as the photo that KKBB posted with the black bag? I didn't realize these are pellets when searching for nutritional pellets! So I guess they are if they are the same thing as the photo of the bag. (?)Roudybush Mini Daily Maintenance pellets for me. It's available at my local exotics store and about $27 CA.
