Well, we just got home. They techs couldn't get blood, so they asked me to come back for Mer but I didn't want to leave him so I stayed and waited. They brought him back out so he could wait with me. I was there for an hour an half, but they did get the blood draw and they actually said he was pretty good. They trimmed his toenails too. Will know tomorrow about the results.

Vicki , I have had that happen also where they just could not get blood. I would have waited also instead of leaving him.

Glad all is good so far.

Was it techs who draw blood? My avian vet (ABVP certified) draws blood herself. The vets usually draw blood from the internal jugular vein (I think the right one).

I have a feeling the techs tried and couldn't do it, but I'm not totally sure. The vet did draw it.

My vet had the same problem when they tried to get blood from Jasper. Apparently some birds are just more difficult due to their own anatomy, attitude and how they're being held. I hope all his bloodwork comes back normal!

I just saw this. I'm glad they were able to get finally. Poor Merlin :( I'll be hoping you get good results back.
