Boy, buying a cage is challenging, no stock and Avian Adventures is no longer making cages....
I plunged ahead because my new retirement, my sleep schedule is not great for Louise-- I stay up later and she in the main room with me. I purchased a smaller sleep cage so she can get more hours of darkness and be safer in my room. It will also be Grady's chalet when he visits and they will both sleep in the main room...
I looked at tons of cages and settled on a Kings Cage. It wasn't available in white and wouldn't be for months. Wasn't thrilled but got it in the copper color. It doesn't really look copper, more of a deep brown with a copper tone. It looks better color-wise than I thought it would. It is a nice looking cage and color.
The feeder doors... are different than I expected. They would be excellent for birds who tend to throw the bowls- their set up makes it challenging to toss a bowl. I will have to set a new pattern of bowl cleaning as my current bowls won't fit. Not a big prob as this is primarily a sleep cage and food in the cage won't be much of an issue.
The big surprise was the quality. Everything went together easily/fit was good. NO rough areas that needed to be smoothed out - only exception was a screw I slightly stripped on the screw head-and that was totally on me.
It's a solid cage. Louise is currently terrified of it and hasn't yet been tempted by the assortment of nuts in it and on it within her view.
I would have rather bought a pair of Expandable Habitats or another Avian Adventures but that wasn't possible. The only difference between the ease of the Avian Adventures vs the Kings is the feeder system where you are pretty much regulated to using their bowls.
I have no regrets with the purchase. Now to get Louise more comfortable with it....
