My name is Wendy. I live in Miami Beach. A little over 5 years ago I found a parrot. He is a Meyers parrot.
I tried and tried to find the rightful owner, but no luck. The parrot, who I named Coconut is now my pet, who I love dearly. I wish I could find out which breeder he came from because I want to know his AGE. He has been to see 3 different avian vets and all of them have a different guess regarding his age.
His band is MCA FL 309

Can any of you help me with this? I have googled and called a couple band manufacturers located in California. So far, I have not had any luck.
Appreciate any help you can provide.

Thank you!

Wendy

Welcome to the forum! Are there any Florida bird societies? Sometimes they keep breeder info.

OK, so I just did a little Google search and found out that obviously the FL stands for Florida. The MCA should be letters or initials from the Aviary or breeder. The number refers to simply the number the breeder assigned to that bird so they could keep records. If it's a closed band they often don't have numbers that refer to birth dates, so you cannot tell from the band how old the bird is. The example I found was actually a Florida band and it looked like yours just different letters and numbers. Good luck.

Welcome to AA. There's a Yahoo bird band group you can join and someone there might know.

Leg bands can be frustrating sometimes. My Echo has one and I figure out which breeder hes from but no info on when he was hatched. I wish you luck thou and hopefully Coconut's breeder kept good records. And thankyou for taking Coconut in!!:)
