I would love to learn how to make those!
Any possibility you can post a how-to ?
I would like the directions too, if you don't mind.
Instructions, please.
I used a Chinese knot to make these... Here is a youtube video explaining the knot;
To make it into a boing,
I started right on a clip, I suppose I could have started on a hoop then use a pear clip to attach it to the cage.
I added a SS wire to the clip in the middle of the knot. So when doing the knots remember to keep the wire in the middle all the time.
I used 4 strands of rope, two horizontally and two vertically (I had blue/grey, and then red/grey). They were each 10metres long. So 40 metres of rope.
The size is quite small, It is a ¨small¨ size boing. To make it bigger, just start with longer ropes.
When I got to the end. I bent over the wire inside so it was a hoop. I could have added a bell but chose not to.
Then gathered all the leftover pieces, and wrapped a new piece of about 30cm around in a gathering knot. Then added beads to all of the ends, and cut them all evenly.
I did take some pics, I will edit them into this post on my phone
Here is the knot you can see how they go over (I made this as a small keyring for my partner to match Sydneys boing)
My starting clip,
Then threaded the ropes, added the wire and wrapped the wire to avoid any sharp bits,
Spaghetti junction,
The end of the wire, bent into a hoop to remove sharp edges,
This was how much I managed to make. I had a load of the blue ropes and less red in the end,
Complete before bending into boing shape,
Tip, do it on a large table or on the bed. Small tables are a nightmare.
I used teeshirt material. You can use polyrope, sisal, or anything else bird safe.
