New BN babies :)

After losing my fostered babies, and discussing it with Carole...I separated my breeding BN pairs from the the BN colony. I had some extra tiel cages and we cut and connected them to make a larger breeding cage unit and put the BN in there.

I hung the platform nests and one pair went to nest, and I was excited, but as the eggs hatched the babies disappeared.

I noticed that Ruby started a nest and had eggs and a baby hatched out. Today I got brave and looked and there were three nice well fed babies. Which is a first...meaning getting past just one baby at a time.

This morning I put some fresh moss in the bottom of the cage, and pinks and her mate raced down and started a nest in the opposite corner of the cage. I almost got a pix of her laying an egg....

I checked this morning when I put out some banana and Daddy bird is being a good Daddy, and there were 3 little heads peeking out the front of him. He is sitting real tight, so I don't know if another egg hatched yet or not.

I had to include a pix of Baby Belle and Little Bit...LOL. They ARE weaned (don't tell them though). Belle is the one looking up and Little Bit is sound asleep. Little Bit just collapses when she sleeps and looks like a dead bird.

Carole...thanks...Have a Happy Day ...and enjoy those burgers. Be glad Little Bit and Belle are not there, you would have to share with them. yesterday they had to have some roasted chicken

My precious protector is doing well today, thank you. I still need to post about our funny amazing event last evening!! I will...right now I am supervising the putting together of the grill...can't you tell?

The little ones are growing like weeds

Belle and Little bit are looking at the pix's as I say that is what you used to look like...LOL

As to the eggs, the farthest one looks infertile and the one behind the front chicks wing looks good, and not sure about the middle one.

Pinks has 2 eggs in her nest and hopefully another one later today.

I finially feel like I am on track with the BN.

Yes...they fo grow fast. In another week they will be feathered. The eyes are already open on the oldest. When Little Bit opened her eyes all she would do is bob her head and look around all the time

I have to get some more little nests from Petsmart so that I have them for sleeping nests for when I pulled the older babies for handfeeding in another few days.

So glad the babies and parents are all doing soo well!!!

You are not kidding about Little Bit she really does just pass out! That is how I look when I sleep...like I passed away too! lol

The babies in the nest are doing well and growing. Shown is Ruby on the 3 of them. Next is Little Bit checking out a honey suckle plant we got. Little Bit is starting to molt in a little bit of blue on the back of the head. And last is some stuff from the small animal section of Petsmart. They will be the little nests I will use for the babies to sleep in when I pull them for handfeeding soon.

Thanks! Mercedez, I haven't checked the other eggs yet. I know one looked infertile, and if the others are good I may pull 2 of the 3 babies. The 2 oldest have already opened their eyes (hatch dates: May 28, 29, 30) But I'm not sure how they will do with a tiny one and a big one. The other nest (Pinks) is up to 4 eggs and they are sitting real good.

Little Bit loves to eat flowers and she was munching away on some honeysuckle that I picked from the neighbors vine
