Last Saturday we drove up to Sebring to buy a pair of BN mousebirds. Carole had given me the # of someone that had a pair for sale.
When I got them home I could see a noticable difference between them and the BN I have. They are larger, darker, paler colored eyes, and ver ungainly in movement. In reading there are 7 subspecies of BN mousebirds, but the discriptions are brief and there are no photos to correspond to the discriptions. In Googling images some of the BN in Kenya look similair to these, but it does not list the subspecies.
I don't have any background on them, aside that they were bought at a bird fair a couple years ago, had 2 babies, 1 died. I'm suspecting they are wild caught imports. Their beak and face are not red, which could be from being housed indoors without any access to sunlight or Vita lights. They appear healthy and have a good appetite.
The last pix is a red-faced. These new BN are build similar to the RF.
