New BirdMum here saying Hi!

Hi All!!

Figured I would join up as it seems like a really informative and friendly place

Story - My 8yr had been begging for a bird for her birthday, so (long story short) we ended up getting 3 budgies from the local online paper/Gumtree/Craigslist.

A bonded pair and 'a spare' as they say.

We immediately moved the bonded pair from their shared tiny cage into their new big cage and the 3rd into a bigger cage on their own - it was NOT a happy situation with them altogether.

They were then named Sun and Sky and they live in the kids room, and Cloud now lives in the main area with us all.

A change of diet and environment/enrichment and all three are looking a lot better - they were a bit tatty and malnourished I think.

These are my first birds in 20yrs, so its all new really. I've been researching the heck out of it all

So I'm looking forward to learning more and sharing our travels as well

I am sohappy you ‘saved’ these beauties.. I always feel like buying a dog or any pet from a breeder is stopping some other little cutie from being rescued frim an unhappy life somewhere.. I want to get mine a friend but refuse to buy from a pet shop and just waiting for a lost / found.. i love the idea of giving them a better cage and better food and a better lofe, well done and congrstulations and maybthey bring you and your family many many happy memories

Its been a long time, but I just wanted to come in and say "Hi" and give an update

Cloud and Sky are still going great. Sun passed away, as did another rescue we got. They occasionally will join me for free fly time, but for the most part, they prefer to hang out in their cage together. (Cage doors wide open)

I have recently welcomed a new family member - a corella, and let me tell you, she's a right handfull so I'll be once again leaning heavily into the incredible resources you have all so wonderfully gathered and so kindly shared
