Checking out the neighborhood
Hello everyone. This is my first forum so I may not understand everything I should be doing. What are tags?
I'm a bird lover and have been for sixteen years, ever since I acquired my first bird -- an African Grey called Squeaker. I am now also owned by a Caique known as Spunky Chicken, a Black Capped Conure called Jack, and my Rainbow Lory named Pigwidgeon.
My husband and I retired a few years ago. We have recently taken into our home two fourteen year old girls -- two-thirds of a set of triplets. What a change to our lifes -- and to the birds', who are fortunately adored by the girls.
We travel to northern Michigan each summer, my husband's family home, and we all love it there.
I'm particularly interested in this forum because my nine-year old Lory, Pigwidgeon, is having some feather color issues. I'm hoping that I'll be able to get some advice that will result in fixing that problem. She's been to our avian vet regularly and found to be in good health. No apparent iron storage issues and no other problems that we can spot. She has turned a very dark and muddy color: a dark red beak, a muddy red collar, and lots of black feathers on her back. She's very active and perky and loves to play. I hope I can get some ideas about what to do.
