So sorry for your loss Kacy. :hug8:

My dad just got a fish aquarium a few months ago because its always been a dream of his to have one. He's very attached to his fish, so I'm sure it wasn't easy to see that happen. :hug8:

Kacy just seeing this. So very sorry. We have a saltwater tank as well but it is my husband's hobby so I'm not really versed on their care. Are you sure the filtration was working though? I do recall once we lost several fish due to the temperature of the tank spiking in the summer and we couldnt get it under control. That caused some kind of parasite breakout. I hope you can figure out what happened, I know it is a helpless feeling watching that happen. :hug8:

Thank you so much everyone. I'm still so sad.

One of the fish that died was my first saltwater fish and he was with me for over 2 years. :(

One fish is still alive and ate. I have no idea what happened. Fish went from perfectly fine to dead in like 2 hours.

Really sorry,

Usually when fish die that fast it’s due to ammonia poisoning, it affects their gills and you will see them gasping for air. The new tank you put them in was it running already? How big is the new tank and how many fish did you transport into the new tank?

It could be a parasite thing also due to the stress of moving into the new tank but usually takes longer to wipe out all the fish.
Some people use copper to control parasites, I personally wouldn’t use it but if it’s the last resort can be used carefully in a fish only tank, no corals or inverts.
My best guess is it was an ammonia spike.

Definitely wasn't ammonia - I tested the water 5 times!

The one fish left is doing fine now - went from 75% dead to fine in a couple hours...so strange.

I don't think I'll ever know what happened. :(
