What is the name or where do you get the fabric? As most of you know I've been struggling to find a collar that really works for Zane. One he couldn't break out of. It's been a week since his latest collar was made and he can't break out of it. It was modified 3 days ago he now can't get to himself either. I've been dreaming of this collar for years. I think it's safe to say now it's here.
It's gonna improve his quality of life dramatically. He'll have so much more of out of collar time. And be able to have misting and proper bathes more often too. Once his wound heals up I'll no longer worry about it getting infected. His overall life and health will just be that much more better.
It's crazy to think that the main reason I'm here now is because on a whim I decided to email a company I saw of Shark Tank. And even crazier is that they helped me! The company is called LocTote and the fabric they use to create this bag Flak Sack COALITION - Loctote Industrial Bag Company It is the same fabric that's helping Zane. It's amazingly tough!
I didn't do this on my own. I had alot of good people helping me. That includes all of you! You were really supportive of this journey and I just want to say Thank you!! I want single out a few people.
@Karen for letting me send the super strong thread to her only available in the states and then mailing it to Canada for me. Used in the second collar
@SpecialistElbru for finding and mailing a special fishing line to me that was also used in the second collar
And @Danita for letting me know about the fleece collars that the WPR birds were using. It was that sparked idea there's got to be something better than plastic plates
Also Thank you to @zoo mom @EllaMay and @Porter for reaching out and offering to help too
AA really is a special place where people reach out and help each other. And Thank you to all who read this far down while I babble on I feel like I'm writing an acceptance speech Here's my boy Zane in his very special collar

It's from a company called LocTote. They made lockable bags using cut resistant fabric. They have developed their own fabric with the help from Honeywell. Unfortunately I highly doubt they'll ever make it available to the general public. What is the name or where do you get the fabric?
The Parrot Resource Centre Avian Collars Archives - Parrot Resource Centre makes the cutest collars for the vet and I bet they can make some for the harder cases with that fabric.
That's understandable. He trusted you and helped you and you have to do right by him too.I also see the problem of he markets cut resistant product. You have to be able to cut to make the collars. He told me how to do it and I needed special tools but I'm sure he wouldn't want that info going out to general public. I feel incredibly lucky he trusted me with info. I'd never tell of course It would feel like I betrayed him if I did. And obviously he been too good to me.

Don the CEO of LocTote is a great guy and gave me All the fabric for free. I hate to pester him as I'm sure he's very busy running his company. But in my next email I'll try to figure out way to bring up the need in the parrot world for his product. Again He's a great guy and I'm sure he'd love to help but probably he doesn't have time to deal with a bunch of people like me either. I got incredibly lucky with this company.

Thank you!! Your support means a lot to meI'm so very happy for Zane and for you. Never having experience with a plucking/mutilating bird I couldn;t help you, but I did have all of my fingers andtoes crossed for your success.
As you know, I consider Zane a special guy and now hope he will live healthy (not so happy with the collar on probably) for a long time to come. My goodness, he's already over 70 years old and acts like a kid.
Me too!! It would be awesome to help other birds like Zane!! While I don't think any time soon it would happen. I'd like to think never say never on this one. Finally! I do hope they are somehow made available to other birds one day.
lots of deep breaths, I think. It's so surreal to me that it has finally happened. I'm still learning how not to hold my breath every time I go into the birdroom. I don't think I appreciated the weight of stress I was carrying taking care of a self mutilator. It's so weird learning to relax about it now.
Just enjoy all of those stress-free birdie cuddles. You have literally earned every single one.At this moment now he's sitting on me being all happy.
You are a wonderful person and you really deserves the joy of Zane being so happy.Zane's really adjusted to it well. He seems just as happy than he always is. He has been kind of grumpy with me sometimes but was before the new collar. He's now his second round of treatment for Giardia. His vet prescribed 10 days on meds 2 weeks off and 10 days back on. At this moment now he's sitting on me being all happy.
Thank you @EloyYou are a wonderful person and you really deserves the joy of Zane being so happy.
Thank you! I'm so happy that their is people like you that cares for the ones that needs us the most.
Give Zane a kiss from me, and here are some hugs from me.
Thank you!! I will definitely try and do that. It's weird I still dread the thought of walking and seeing him collarless. But there's no way he's getting out this collar. I understand that rationally. I think I'm just waiting for the emotional side of my brain to catch up to the rational sidelots of deep breaths, I think.
