I'm sure they were!!!I got my first bird in the 1960s, a sweet little Parakeet named Petie. He was the most beautiful color of blue! I bought him at Woolworth's for .99 cents and brought him home without asking my parents. They were quite surprised...

Good question! I bet quite a few of us did!Congratulations! I loved your interview. I wonder how many people had a budgie for a first bird?
I did! He was blue and his name was Charlie. And then our next bird was green Charlie. LOL!Good question! I bet quite a few of us did!
Mine was Petie, a beautiful blue little guy. I still think about him even though that was in the 60s. Then I had a tiel named Sunny for her bright orange cheeks. We only had her about 4 years when we had to Rehome her because I being restationed to Pearl Harbor Hawaii (Hickam AFB). Broke my heart but there was no way we could take her along.I did! He was blue and his name was Charlie. And then our next bird was green Charlie. LOL!
And then Charlie III and eventually Sydney and Kinga.
