Maggie May

Our beautiful beautiful Maggie May is gone. I found her in her sleeping cage this morning. I can't help but feel I should have seen some warning signs that she was ill, but I didn't. I don't know how old she was, but she seemed healthy.

We've only had her a few months, but she was already one of us. She was so timid but I think she was starting to enjoy scritches and I was thrilled that she was trying different foods. My heart is broken and I feel like I let her down, by not understanding she was sick. Good bye Sweetheart. I'm sorry. I love you.

I am very sorry for your loss and can only say that if Maggie May was ill, you know that birds are so very good at fooling us humans and pretending to be okay. My heart goes out to you because I've unfortunately had my loss too and know how utterly heartbreaking it feels. Words are not enough consolation.

You took her in in spite of "never will have a 'too", loved her unconditionally and from the sound of it that was a two way street. In the little time you had together, you know that Maggie May came to know a new life and how good it could be. You know that where she is flying she's waiting for you and the rest of your family.

Don't be hard on yourself pat....birds are notorious for hiding their illness. It's instinct to them. Had u suspected something, u would've done anything u could've to prevent this.
