I used to keep hissing roaches, and one evening caught one molting - I thought it was pretty cool!

Yeah, I know I recently posted about burning my house down because I saw a roach - but hissing roaches are WAY different than the icky ones. I used to keep these as pets. I ended up selling the whole colony because the dang things bred faster than I could feed them off, no matter how cool I kept them, and it became a hassle. They were so fun though, and I'd made their tank bioactive (which, now that I think about it, might have been part of the problem...).

Anyway, here's a video of one of the big girls molting. It's pretty neat!

Here's one in hand to give an idea of their size. They're absolutely massive.

Omg I love these guys! We had 3 as pets in my 4th grade class and I was one of the only ones who liked them and wanted to take care of them.

They're such fun creatures! I had a blast with them. And they're wildly easy to take care of!

I have 4 different colonies of various hisser species :roflmao: The rarer one is being a pain about breeding which I did read they a little more picky about life than the others. I bumped their temps higher & hoping to see babies soono_O I also have I don’t know 5 or 6 colonies of other roaches. The Extinct Roach is a favorite even if they are so freaking quick. Titan my macaw pulled the lid off that one while I was sleeping & I almost had a heart attack when I saw him sitting on the edge looking in:eek::eek::eek: Lucky they tend to hid more than explore. If he had pulled one of the hissers open they would have been everywhere haha
