Hey Linnie Landing, long time no see!
Here's Machi burrowing with his towel, the most recent photo I have of him just because!
So this is somewhat old news, since this happened in early July, but after he seemed a little lonely, I finally relented and got him a buddy. Meet Hiyoko, a cream-ino female from the same breeder I got Machi from. (hiyoko is "chick" in Japanese, my mom started calling her that and it stuck)
I'm definitely surprised that she's adjusted a lot faster than Machi did (it took 3 days until Machi started eating, Hiyoko started eating on Day 1) but it's a welcome change.
Machi still doesn't seem used to her, in fact he aims for her toes no matter if she's on his cage, or he lands on hers...
But he's stopped contact calling and they seem to converse with each other a lot. I'm not expecting them to be best of friends just yet as it's only been a month but I'll try to keep you guys updated!
Anyway, here's some more photos!
(She seems the most comfortable burrowing under the blanket I put over her cage, doesn't really try to fly when she's out of her cage)
(Here she is, lounging on said blanket and looking cozy!)
(It took a few days for her to figure out that fingers are not for chomping but scritches but she's figured it out! It's really cute when she fluffs up and looks like a pinecone, and really pretty too with the yellow fading to white at the roots)
