looking for some advice, i have a greenwing macaw, he is prox. 45 - 50 years old.
he has developed an issue with his eye, the yellow ring is a darker gold color and seems
to be light senitive also. his other eye is just like it has always been. i see no change in
his eating or play habits. i dont want to haul him foo to the vet as our temps here are
in the low single deg. has anyone seen this before & how serious is it. he has been my
pet for over 30 years and i have had no issues with his till this point.

Could it be that he's going blind?

If he's healthy, and the car is warm, then he should be fine with a quick, short drop between the home and the car. That is, if he appears to require a vet visit.

It is not uncommon for macaws to develop cataracts as they age. Have you tried looking in the eye with a pen light to see if he has cataracts? If you do look for cataracts, notice whether his pupil contracts as it should with bright light.
