We just got back and Mabel was very well behaved even though there were some very very stressful parts. She was very good about entering her Ap but I do believe that she was actually worried about not coming back. It was also extremely nice to watch her look up at the sky and the sun for the very first time. She seemed in awe.
She did NOT enjoy being towelled and Dre. Beaulieu said that one could tell she had been in the petshop for a very long time based on the way she behaved.
Her beak did not need to be filed down. Wood chewing will do the job.
The dark blotches on her feathers are from a diet of TOO much fat. No stress bars.
I'm sure the shabby feathers will all be gone by her next molt.
She got a pedicure and I had them remove her band. Starting next week I will start to play towel games with her to get her comfortable with it so I can do the nail filing myself.
The band removal process took over half an hour. Apparently it was a very strong type of band and they had to do it in short intervals and small sections to give Mabel a break every so often because the tool would really Heat up very quickly.
By the end of it she was breathing hard and very Very glad to see me again.
She was also very glad to hear Emma through the door when we arrived home. The vet told me her foot will be very sore for the next few hours because they held it pretty tightly while removing the band. They asked me if I wanted to keep it. I told them to throw it away.
Good riddance to the past.
