Hi guys,
I would like some advice on lining for the bottom of the cage. Ive always had corncob litter in the bottom of Bucks cage and that was never an issue. I did the same with Skittles but she plays with the litter as if she thinks its pellets maybe. Im worried a bit as this is pretty solid material and Im worries she will eat it and have problems or choke...

So I wanted to check with you guys if 1. Corncob litter is a good choice for a lovebird and 2. If you have other ideas maybe? Would pine shavings be better for example or should I just go for paper or scott towels?

any ideas? Or is it the corncob safe? Ive never had an issue with it before and I was suggested that method by a pet store and bird owners..but since she is playing with it through the cage bars...Im concerned. Yes there's cage bars separating the bird and the corn cob but she manages to get some in her beak anyways..

Paper is the best lining. If you put wood shavings, one flap of the wing and it will be all over the place.

I agree that paper is your best bet. It's relatively easy to change, you can see their droppings better, and dries more quickly than other media.

Plus wood shavings and particularly corn cobs retain moisture and make a very good medium for fungus to grow. Aspergillosis is one of the very dangerous fungi that can grow well in that atmosphere. Paper is the better cage lining by far.

Ohhh I so did not think of the mess with flying! thats a good point!
This is one of my sun conures FAVORITE things to do! When I'm switching her papers, before I can get to remove the OLD one that's full of debris, she'll literally HOVER(yes, kinda like a hummingbird) right on top of me so that it seems like a bomb has gone off in the area . But she's my girl and I love her all the same, if not more!

@Mizzely recommended and I now use U-Haul packing paper. I was using so many paper towels and this is the perfect solution. I cut a bunch to fit the cage at one time and then use the leftover strip to double under for Gigi's morning hot spot.

You can always order blank newspaper sheets in bulk. They come in many sizes to fit your cage easier.
