So, since I moved, I haven't gotten around to reinstalling my FS lighting at all, but I'd like to get working on it. Since it used to just be the budgies, it was easy-- I just stuck an FS light fixture on the wall above their cage and that was that.

Now that I have Charles and Lola, I'm a bit worried about the arrangement. Their cages are across from each other in a very small room (about 10 feet wide). I want to mount each light fixture to the wall above their cages... but that would make it so that whenever either of them looks across the room, they'd be looking right at the other light fixture. I know that staring into FS lights can destroy their corneas (or something like that) and I was wondering... is 10 feet enough space, or is it still a risk? If I put them on the ceilings, I don't think enough light will get down to them in their cages.

What do you guys think?

Can you shade the light somehow so that it directs its rays downward, and not forward?
