just woke up for the day and was checking on all the birds and found Emerald my female society finch dead in her nest. her rearend was all swollen so i think maybe she was trying to lay an egg and it got stuck/bound and wouldn't pass.
She was a very regal acting finch so i always called her Lady Emerald. i rescued both her and Periodot(her mate) she was almost completely bald and both of them were skinny and in a super tiny cage.
after awhile they looked better and were very energetic and Periodot started singing...so i knew they were better and happy.
she looked fine when i went to bed..was snuggled up in the nest with her bo, so she passed sometime while i was sleeping.
Periodot seems to be looking for her and so far this morning he hasn't sang his morning song that he sings every morning when i turn the lights on. He's missing his lady and is too sad to sing...poor guy
