thought I would pop a complete set of pics and will add in some vid when i get home to upload them as well.

Kea are a unique and endangered parrot (psittacine) species endemic to the Southern Alps of New Zealand. Kea are highly adaptive and are considered by scientists to be one of the most intelligent bird species in the world.

they are definitely interesting and most certainly pretty but they can tear the wipers of a car in a heartbeat and then start taking the car apart too LOL

when this guy got in my handbag at the beginning I was very worried about what in there would come out in one piece LOL

Love the pics! They are such beautiful and fascinating parrots.

I was chatting with a customer the other day at the bird store - turns out she works at the local zoo here. She was saying they recently got two keas at the zoo! They won't be on display until the spring, when it's warm enough to go into their outdoor aviary. I can't wait to see them in person!

that is GREAT , i cant wait for you to see them either!
They are alpine birds though and they love the snow so waiting for the warmth is no reason to keep them out of the aviary :D

i think one of my fav shows was some animal show that had the keas on it. showed them ripping a car to pieces bit by bit at some park while the people were out hiking lol.
great pics love the little juvenile deliquents lol
