Rollerblading along the road
Avenue Veteran
Celebirdy of the Month
Mayor of the Avenue
He was just a beat up bird
In a dirty old cage
No toys for him
Nor clean water or fresh food
No one who cared
Not a scritch to spare
No time out to play
No way to be a bird
They moved on
But left him there
By himself in his cage
To die all alone
But he came to me
And a nice new cage
Good food and water too
Other birds to share
More toys than he’d even known
Now he has someone who cares
Not hands that will strike him
Or shouted words of hate
But it’d been so long that his trust was all but gone
Time will heal the hurt he felt but memories die hard
He grows less fearful with every passing day
But yet he just can’t seem to trust again
Take your time my beat up bird
For I’ll never hurt you nor leave you like they did
I’ll wait for you to come to me
You can spread your wings and fly free here
Knowing I’ll be here to catch should you fall
He’s my “Tough Guy” and My Little Hero. Any bird that could endure what he had to is far stronger that I am.
He found his forever home here with Nibble, Streak & I. He’s come so far but has so far yet to go but I’ll not give up. But even if he never wants a scritch I’ll know he has a safe warm home with a clean cage, lots of toys fresh food and clean water.

Piper passed away on Wednesday at Sly's house where he's been for the last two years due to my COPD. He came from a very bad place when he first came to me and I have no idea how old he was, I'm sure he was well older than Nibble though. But I did my very best to give him the best life I could. He and Nibble became best friend and stayed so until the end. Sly said it was fast. Nibble and Dodger are calling for him. I ask Sly to have Piper cremated and to send his ashes home to me. Sly's as heart broken as I am. It was 15 years ago he showed up and two I let Sly take him, Nibble and Dodger.
