Ditto on Tandy Leather! Started my collection with my brothers and in 1976 I bought one Craftool a week.I have a few quilts in the making. My favorite pattern is Lone Star. I mostly do queen size. I'm working on a lone star doing machine embroidery in the borders.
I'm self taught (started in my teens) doing leather work. Still have all my tools from 50 years ago. I got most of my tools & supplies from Tandy Leather. I've also made leather motorcycle chaps, redone motorcycle jackets, recovered motorcycle seats, etc. I have a saying...."if I can get it under the needle I can make it".
Have fun. Crafting is so much fun & I find it not only relaxing, but rewarding as well.
I met Elanor years ago in Lancaster, PA at a quilt show. She was signing autographs at her vendor booth.Ditto on Tandy Leather! Started my collection with my brothers and in 1976 I bought one Craftool a week.
I've never done a Lone Star. Mom hated them, they were never straight and we had (I still have) a machine quilter.
Check out Eleanor Burns quilt in a day
Wow! Her Quilt in a Day log cabin (barn raising) is my favorite. I've probably made and sold a LOT of these. I kept left over strips from those in a bag and my aunt asked for them. She made me a quilt for ME to keep. I love it for the memories.I met Elanor years ago in Lancaster, PA at a quilt show. She was signing autographs at her vendor booth.
If you mark each piece 1/4" to match the points up the Lone Star will come out right & lay flat in the middle. It takes a long time to do one.
I am not a quilter but worked with a lady years ago that enjoyed making quilts. I know they can be difficult but I had two ideas I thought would be fun. Both quilts would have colorful squares and in each square there would be a different sock appliquéd on ( whimsy quilt #1)…. (Whimsy quilt # 2 would have colorful boxer shorts and panties)…. Just for fun. Like the blankets that have static electricity and other thing stick to it in the dryer.I met Elanor years ago in Lancaster, PA at a quilt show.
