Is regurgitating budgie normal?

I know when they are kept in pairs they will sometimes regurgitate food for their mate. But one of my budgies is temporarily by himself because his older buddy is being treated with medication for a possible thyroid issue.

I was spending some time changing out his plastic dishes for stainless steel ones that are easier to clean and then I covered him for the night and her seeds falling on the floor of his cage. I uncovered him again and he spat up a small amount of seeds. He is otherwise singing, playing, eating drinking, pooping normally. Should I be worried or is this normal budgie behavior? He is not showing any signs of illness. I can take him to the vet, but I just got back from a four hour round trip to the avian vet with his older brother. If this is not normal behavior I will definitely take him to the vet.

Thank you.

Were the seeds digested or not? If not, he probably needs a vet too.

They were partially undigested. Right before I covered him he went to his food dish and really gobbled a bunch of seeds eating around the pellets. But it was just a few and he is otherwise acting completely normal. I will call the vet if you think I should. Thanks.

Could it be crop adjustment? He really gorged himself on seeds just before I covered him for the night.

Maybe, but none of mine have ever done this, and, past and present, I’ve had 11.

My roommate @parrotfish has a budgie who is a pretty hormonal male and he will sometimes regurgitate to his reflection. If this recurs, I would get him checked to see if it could be Avian Gastric Yeast, as budgies are the most susceptible. Here is a veterinary article about it. Avian Gastric Yeast

Would this cause the undigested seeds? That’s what puzzles me. Ernest is ridiculously hormonal, but there are no undigested seeds.

I took in a budgie about 2 + years ago. He had always been by himself. He regurgitates all over his toys.

Mine is temporarily by himself because his partner is under the weather. Their cages are right next to each other. But he hasn’t regurgitated anything since that one time the other day. Thanks.
