Here's my Birdie, chewing on cardboard. I've noticed that it does this a lot, and it does some sort of strange behavior. I think other people's birds do this too, but I want to know if I should take the cardboard away. Any thoughts?

Note: There's sound in the video, but it's not necessary. Just random music. :)

Totally normal lovebird behavior. If Birdie ends up being female and it creates egg laying complications, then yes I would remove it. Otherwise, no. Let him/her have it and enjoy a very natural thing. Allowing natural behaviors is very good for them!

That's nesting behavior, and yes, pretty normal! Some say that you can sex a peachface lovebird by how well it tucks material into their rump feathers! Females are better at it than males are! ;)

Saying that, it's not a 100% fool-proof method. Some hens are lousy at tucking in material and some males are great at it!

I agree with Shawna about whether or not to allow it!

It's normal and, if the bird is not hormonal all the time (which is bad for them), it's OK to allow it.
