If your only supply needs to be washed, you could consider rinsing, soaking the next day's batch overnight, rinse, and serve damp (discard any uneaten food, and repeat for the next day). Definitely don't attempt to wash/dry the entire supply due to the risks mentioned above (unless you have a dehydrator that does a thorough job).
It's fairly common to soak even human-grade items (nuts and seeds) to increase their nutrient value, and some items (beans) should go through a longer sprouting process, while other items (peas and lentils) can either be soaked or sprouted.
