Little Piccolo has been evicted, well partially.
During the day he will be going out into a playpen I set up in one of the aviaries, he will still be sleeping inside at this point.

Reasons for eviction. One, he needs more space, he's getting big and flighty so I need to make sure he won't hurt his head.
Two, his brooder tub is required for his newborn siblings Pictures to come.

Also I should be able to properly sex Piccolo soon, so we'll know for sure if he is a he!

Someone said something about their size so I wanted to try and show that. I would have rathered a golf ball, but a tennis ball was the closest I could find.
This one is about five days old. This time around it was only two babies again.

I want to focus on Piccolo for a moment here.
First, I am still new to raising this species of quail, but I believe Piccolo is a little Miss

Next is some pictures that show the extent of Piccolo's leg issues.

Pic hatched with curled toes and a slipped tendon. Slipped tendons are real hard to correct, most breeders (of chickens and quail) won't even try. It was actually recommended I put Piccolo down.
But I am stubborn and was already attached to my first quail baby
So three days after hatch, with me trying really hard to not snap her tooth pick legs, this was Pic

This is her today, she has some crooked toes but she can walk (and perch!) and that's a achievement
