Hi I am in need for help my 1 year on GGC got a door closed on his beak. There was blood in his mouth. I took him to the vet hospital. There they said there was a good chance he would lose beak. They were all the ones that said he was in tough shape and would not be a bad thing to euthanize him. I left him over night and took him home because they said he was eating or thriving. Well 4 weeks later he is back to his old self, only thing I worry is if beak were to fall off when would that happen. Help I am a nervous wreck. !!!!

Hi, I don’t think you need to worry that his beak is going to fall off.

I think right after the accident happened, he looked rough and the emergency vet gave the worst case scenario. Then your bird did really well and started using his beak.

It’s four weeks later and your bird is doing well. I think any danger is likely past and you can stop worrying about it. Maybe you could take him in to be checked again? But if he’s eating and happy I would not worry about it.

Has he seen his regular vet since this happened?
