Hey people,
Government of India plans to create a database of all the exotic birds in the country and has started an amnesty scheme for all the exotic animals/birds owners/traders who get their animals/birds legally or illegally, with or without proper documentation. The last date to register with GoI is March 15 2021. This is just a database creation and all those who apply will be exempted from all sorts of legal proceedings. Please do check parivesh portal of ministry of environment, forest and climate change to know more details and register yourselves as a part of the scheme. If you're not from India, please do ignore it and mention other Indian members of the community if you know any!

Wow! That must be a huge endeavour to register all bird owners in the country. So good to see a government being proactive in preventing illegal animal trade.

I wish Canada did more. A few years ago, a woman's illegal pet monkey showed up at Ikea wearing a parka. He had gotten out of the car while his owner was shopping inside.
