I petted a chipmunk!

I went on a nature walk yesterday and forgot my camera!! D'oh! I saw a wild turkey, a porcupine up in a tree, Canada geese, male mallard ducks, red squirrels, a black squirrel, fed a chickadee in my hand and fed a chipmunk and petted him! He was so soft and not nervous at all. It was on a walking trail where many people go to walk, feed the birds and wildlife and take pictures so I guesss he was used to people. I know - !
Sorry! But it is still interesting to hear, right?

Just to be clear - I put the pix as a joke as people wanted pix! I didn't have my camera with me! The only pix that were mine were the last ones of ducks and geese, but not from yesterday's walk. Some of you probably missed the captions between the pix. Sorry, did not mean to mislead or take credit for others' pix.

Sounds like an awesome nature walk! When I was a kid, we used to go camping in British Columbia a lot. At one government campsite, there was a hill full of holes made by marmot families. I sat patiently at the hill until this adorable baby marmot crawled out of a hole, and into my lap. Then I bundled him up and brought him back to the camper. As I proudly announced "Look what I caught! Can I keep him?", the Park Ranger (who had been following me the entire time) knocked on the door and sternly told me to put it back.

I was about 10 yrs old at the time - but I'd still be tempted to do it again today!
