Sydney won't stop staring at it. He's very intrigued but ultimately decided to take his usual afternoon nap before climbing onto it.

I'm hoping these will be harder to destroy for my girls over the cotton perches/boings :fingerscrossed:

I also made a "rope" perch for Charlie, I'll take it upstairs when I know my neighbour is home, I did wire it so it can bend and stay bent,

So far she's grabbed it with her beak and shook it, and now she's having a snack

Me too!! :fingerscrossed:

Are they shoelaces?
No. It´s teeshirt material - cotton. But unlike the rope boings, they are not all those tonnes of thin strands that my birds love to shred to bits to make nests with.

I just thought to myself "where there's a will, Aldora will find a way"
Haha I know. She will annihilate literally everything! I can only hope this can withstand her!! :faint:

Not that’s awesome! Cause mine love to just shreds and I get nervous she’ll eat them. What did you use for wire? This is a diy going on my list lol

What kind of cotton? I need to make a smaller one for Bailey’s camping cage, the one he has is way too big for that cage….great idea!!

Stainless steel. You could use iron but it might rust if it gets wet.

You could also use polyrope to make the boing. I would use that but can´t find it in bigger quantities around here. I used 12.5metres for Aldoras boing. 8.5m for Sydneys.

And assuming just braided together? At least that’s what I’m thinking of doing…:think1:

Great job!
You could also use polyrope
... but I wouldn't use poly. :)

I know this story is about poly fleece, but I'd worry about similar issues with any poly material unless they couldn't destroy it (like a PVC pipe).
The same authors have another article about natural alternatives.

I realize you know this stuff, but adding this for other readers, and maybe I'm missing what your poly suggestion is intending.

 Very impressive! That's some advanced braiding.

I think my favorite feature is the quick links instead of those plastic end caps the store bought ones come with. 10-10-10.gif Well done!
