I am so sorry. So very sorry. But I have to agree with Anne; I wouldn't have an outdoor aviary without a entry vestibule so there is a double door between the birds and the outside world. That way you can go in the vestibule door, close it and then open the aviary door. If a bird gets into the vestibule it can't get out to the wild and you can catch it and get it back into the aviary. No more birds lost to the butchers. Poor Wingli. How unfortunate.

Thanks everyone.

Right now, I am considering getting the Budgies, that are out in the aviary, a cage, and bringing them inside. Kero (Budgie) is inside already and he would have the other Budgies to interact with then, and probably will be a lot happier. I don’t know though. I don’t know how I would go about making a double door, the door on their aviary is really low, and small, it would be kind of hard. I had thought about doing what I have for both the aviaries I have Cockatiels in, and that is put a piece of mesh (like this http://www.backyardcity.com/Images/3L/Green-Mesh-Swatch.jpg) on the inside of the door so they couldn’t hang on the door, and I would have to lift the mesh as I go in, I have never had any of my Cockatiels escape from doing this with both their aviaries.

I'm so sorry for your loss! :( If you don't bring them inside I think the mesh idea you have would be very good, especially if it already works with your cockatiel aviary.

Oh gosh...I'm sorry Renae! Could you put up a failsafe like a net "hallway" in front of the door?
