I am so so so so sad. Today when I got home I let Truely out of her cage and she couldn't fly to her usual spot because she has chewed her wings so much she's lost almost all flight ability. This while Folly is molting and getting her wings. :(

:(:( So sorry Ginger. So hard to watch them do that to their feathers.

:hug8:I'm sorry. It is hard to watch them do that, then they don't realize why they can't fly.

I am hoping that when she goes through her molt that the new feathers are to her liking. I am also thinking she needs to have a Ella poncho.

I went through this with Harper. It's so sad. :( I just wanted to say that this is not your fault Ginger. Truely is the most spoiled goffin's I know. It just proves that some birds just pluck, even if they are in fantastic homes! :hug8:

So sorry to hear this Ginger.
Since medical reasons have been ruled out (we all know your birds get the best care, including vet visits), could there possibly be something diet related?
Perhaps some sort of allergy? anything different/new in the house?......so frustrating trying to rule out possible causes.

I feel for you. My G2 is right now in the same boat. She shreds her wings at times, loosing her flying ability. So far I've been able to keep it from becoming mutilation by heavy misting, lots of out times, and tons of new toys.

I fear the day when my doing these things makes no difference. :(

These Goffins....little loves that capture our hearts, and then slowly break them when we can't seem to give them what they need.

Praying Truly soon begins some new wing feather growth, and allows them to grow.

I can only imagine how heartbroken and frustrated you are. :hug8: Can you pinpoint when this started to occur? Maybe it is diet related. Have you started by cutting one item from the feed and see if there is any difference? Of course the change will take a while before you notice any difference. As it has become habitual have you considered trying the Essential oils for calming on the Holistic forum?
I sure hope you can figure this out and change her behavior. Remember it is not your fault. Your birds have a wonderful mama!

I'm so sorry! I know how you feel. My cockatiel ruined all her flight feathers one night (she had night frights) and in the morning she could not fly at all. :( It's very sad.
