We have had Howard at his doctors several times to monitor his diabetes. It's not going very well. It's very hard to get the right amount of glipizide. We check his blood glucose and it's not going down. It's gotten worse. I hate to put him thru another long road trip but we're going again Monday. I know our CAV is doing all she can and actually started crying in the parking lot when Howard said to her "come on now." Please keep our little guy in your thoughts. Thank you

Plenty of healing thoughts for Howard, I’m hoping that there’s a positive turn around soon for him.

He’s a very strong boy. :hug4:

My heart is sad seeing your post of Howard. Praying they can regulate his diabetes very soon. Please give him a little scritch from me.

Aww Carol, diabetes is so very very difficult in birds - far more so than in humans. I'm glad you have a good Dr. and that is a big plus for Howard.

I'm keeping that boy in my thoughts.

Howard saw his vet yesterday. We could try metformin or glyburide or leave him on glipizide. We will be doing urine test strips at home. At the start of this we gave him 0.1 mL when we raised it up slowly he could hardly stay awake. Are choices are to leave him on a lower dose of glipizide so he can stay awake and be his funny little guy or try a different med or raise the dosage. His weight has stayed at 410.

I was thinking this the other day that you might get better results with one of the other drugs that are available for use. May be worth a try.
