On my way to the shop I hit the mother load in birds. I first saw a King Fisher by the time I got out of my car with the camera he flew off, but I turned around and there was a whole tree full of pelicans! Then when I was leaving I came across a tree with an Osprey just hanging out!

I think the bigger question is how the heck does a pelican land and STAY on a branch?? lol They have webbed feet! You don't see ducks and geese in trees!

Thanks everyone for the nice complements! It's funny because about 5 weeks or so there were hardly any birds around now I there are trees full of pelicans around the lake!

They are! Photos, even gorgeous ones like these can't give you the full impression of the 'presence' these birds have in person. Kind of prehistoric looking and pretty big birds, they are especially impressive in the air. I was very impressed by them last time I was in Florida.

They are! Photos, even gorgeous ones like these can't give you the full impression of the 'presence' these birds have in person. Kind of prehistoric looking and pretty big birds, they are especially impressive in the air. I was very impressed by them last time I was in Florida.
Huge birds, that is why it cracks me up to see them on these little branches with their webbed feet! I love watching them dive! They circle around and go full force into the water with a huge splash then bob back up!
Amazing photos! It is a wonderment how those branches just don't snap with such big birds on them!

Yes, everything about them makes for continuous entertainment. Pelicans are very fascinating birds. I couldn't stop staring at them even when they were just perched and not doing much of anything. I really love one time I saw a pelican that looked like it was just hovering without flapping its wings.
