So how big is your turkey this year? We are stuffing our turkey with citrus: oranges, limes and lemons. It's a recipe I got on the food channel a few years ago. After the turkey is done you throw the fruit away. It gives a great taste and keeps the inside of the bird clean. We are definitely making too much food. We have a 20 pound bird for 10 people. I guess we like the way it presents. Originally they were supposed to give us an 18 pounder. There will be no waste. I can freeze some of it, make turkey soup and freeze that, etc. I am going to bring many of the leftover pies, veggies, etc to the office on Friday morning. We also made a brisket too. I am getting full just thinking of everything. Yams, cranberry compote, veggies, etc, etc.

The one I got tonight is 21 pounds. I usually only get a 15 pounder or so but there's never anything left!

Having dinner over at my moms but I know they got a 20 lb turkey as well as a ham. I'm making broccoli casserole to take over. Not sure on what else we are having. There will be 13 people I think.

Robin..not laughing...the whole point is the presentation. So here is a question...do people with little birds have bigger turkeys than people with large birds ?:) I have an English Budgie and canaries.....and a 20.5 pound turkey....... I have big bird envy:)

:( That's sad. Do you eat turkey ?
Nah, I never will, I am weird like that though. :p My Turkeys are pretty fat, but I couldn't bring myself to even try and eat one let alone kill one of them.

I sure wouldn't want to kill one either. :( I could never do it if I had raised them, no way !

I have 3 giant turkeys that live with me.

Two are about 150 lbs, and one is 110 lbs.

These big toms have had a pretty long life for turkeys.

They are 45, 19, and 14 yrs old.

:hehe:

I handraised 2 of mine, and I wouldn't want to kill them either.

The oldest, though, I want to kill him often.
