Sorry if this has been posted before but I came across this recipe and was wondering if anybody else had made their own nutriberries? How did they go down?

Personally, I am not sure how healthy this recipe is:

It's impossible to get nutriberries here so I'm always keen on alternatives!

Yum! I bet I can use the little tops pellets and trick her into liking them more.

Ooo I like the banana instead of sweetener! Just note to wash the quinoa well (I'm assuming it's used uncooked)! I forget what it's coated with but that's poisonous for birds.

I forgot about some pureed banana I have in the freezer. I'm going to try this today, and let you know how it goes.

I rarely follow instructions well when it comes to cooking, but I feel good about the protein, sugar, fat ratio and I had it all handy. They're in the oven, and I will get the done picture soon! She ate about .5 tablespoon while I was rolling them, so it might be a hit!

@Monaco were your lentils cooked? Your little birdie treats look real yummy! I think Burt may like them, he has not had any birdie bread or treats like this for ages so I might give your basic recipe a go with a few ingredient changes.

I was recently thinking about this! I can get Nutriberries easily, but sometimes I just want to mix it up. Going to save all of these great recipes!

Ps @Monaco Monaco is looking gorgeous!

I didn't cook the lentils! Are those one that needs to be cooked? I mean aside from the oven? I did get them ground pretty fine.

Yeah to be honest I’m not really sure but I do always cook them.
@Mizzely might know if the lentils have the same enzymes as chickpeas.

Do you mean phytic acid? It binds with several nutrients making it hard for them to be absorbed. However, all seeds, nuts, grains and legumes have it to some degree!

Cooking can help neutralize it, and soaking and sprouting lower the active amounts considerably.

I imagine baking would remove at least some of them.

Thank you @Mizzely!
I do not know what I meant really lol. All I knew was lots of the dried beans / lentils had something in them that is not good for digestion without being cooked, soaked or sprouted first.

Yeah I honestly had no idea they could be so high! I think the biggest thing to remember is that phytic acid is really only a concern if the diet is not balanced.

Soaked almonds and legitimately tasty though lol
