This colder than usual weather is...well...for the birds. I have quite a number of birds, mostly rescues. I have 2 YNAs, Precie and Pedro, which are 30 y/o and 28y/o respectively who I inherited; a cock CAG, Emmie, who is 14y/o and a rescue; and two lovebirds, a Peachface who is a plucker, Scruffy, whom I don't know his age, and a harlequin named Harley, who is four. Most of my cockatiels were bred, without permission, I might add, by my original birds, Chip (who died suddenly last year) and Gracie, a 15 year old white cockatiel. Her daughters, Diva (handicapped bird) and Kira are Cinnamons and the son, Vulch, Normal grey. Vulch's mate is Cinnamon Mindy (rescue), and Kira's mate is Normal Benny, also a rescue. Tasha, yellow Lutino, is Gracie's granddaughter. Trixie is my Meyers, about 9 y/o, and Sunshine, my Senegal, is my avian alter-ego, and is 12 y/o. Juliette is a canary and Ying and Yang chocolate Society Finches. So I have lots of aging birds and enjoy them immensely. I am one year out from a major rebuilding of my spine and am doing very well and grateful to have my legs fully functional. Sometimes caring for the birds, Mom and the cats is a fight, but they are one of the reasons I get out of bed in the morning! Hope to speak with a lot of you on line in the future.
