Here's Baby...

So at bird toy store/rescue I visited today, they are acquiring 50+ birds in the next few days because a rescue that kept more than they adopted out lost their owner. Please if you're in the Maryland area and you are looking to adopt, PM me and I'll give you their information. They have everything from Macaws to Toos to Greys to Amazons.

She's gonna need some work. She is very dirty, like dirt all up in her feathers. Her skin is peeling and she doesn't like baths so this will be interesting. Of course she's super sweet but very scared because her world's been turned upside down in 48 hours time. I'm glad I have you guys because I'm sure going to need your help! So without further ado here's baby:

Yeah but I totally hadn't planned on a U2. I was thinking more like a Goffin

For taking in a bird that needs a home Heather!

As far as a bath/shower I would try a spray bottle or if you have a shower perch you could even bring her into your shower. Now is the time you can mold her before she gets too settled. Trust me mold her well, or you will be paying for it later.

So is Baby your bird now? Or are you fostering Baby??

Wow, I don't know if I would push the bath thing right now. It might interrupt with your bonding.

You can try and offer her as many ways to take a bath as you can think of.

A shallow dish in her cage, running water in the sink, a little bit of water in the bottom of the tub, a chance to take a real shower by letting her hang out on the bar when your showering.

A light misting from a spray bottle, but stop if she shows the slightest fear.

Let her tell you what she's most comfortable with.

Yeah she's ours now Her name was "Foe" or "Pho" or "Faux" LOL You get the point, but she says "Hi baby!" over and over so we're gonna stick with Baby.

Good idea, I'll put a big dish on top of the cage and hope she goes up there. She's TERRIFIED of the spraybottle so the aloe spray or water spray is out. I'll see if she'll do the shower, but if she's scared we'll stop. She's like one big dustball that's covered in dirt. Her feathers are all chewed up and some of them are dark brown from all the dirt caked in there

Well I'm waiting for the records to be transferred from her vet to mine. She's been fully vetted, blood tests and all and was told that she's clear. I'll verify that myself once the records are transferred. The vet closed at 12 noon today so I couldn't get the records.
