Help Spread the Love (please!!)

Can anyone explain to a tech-challenged dinosaur (that would be ME) how to do the "love" emoticon thingy from a cheap android "smarty-pants" phone?
Weirdly, the option pops up accidentally sometimes when I scroll, but I can't get it to pop up when I want to use it!

Instead of just tapping the like button, hold it for a second and the options should pop up
