Hi!

I am here to learn about parrots, and like other people here help people about them if I can. I am a little bit technical about doing.

I got a lovebird called EVA, because some mecha anime seen at my youth. This place have so many good information and data that I've been obligated to register here.

Have a nice day!

Okay! As asked here she is! I think these are quite good.
I share ownership of more five bugdies, were six but Arch died last month. :/

PS:. She is so well-behaved that I started walking with her a lot... I'm preparing her for free flight's somewhere outdoors. Not only Indoors. I learned this when she escaped me months ago... Now it's a little bit hormonal, then the idea need to wait a little.

Welcome! You say you're considering free flight, and while I think freeflight is awesome, I really encourage you to make sure you get a proper trainer, and know the risks for a bird that size.
She's so pretty! :awww:

While the idea is lovely, the truth is that lovebirds generally do not make good candidates for free flying. They are stubborn and bold, and may choose to simply not come back, or want to stay longer in that tree.
To take a lovebird outdoors, I would recommend a harness. There are small sizes available for lovebirds.

In addition to what Zara said, which I personally agree with having had 5 lovebirds but training my macaw for free flight, I would recommend looking into a teacher so to at least go about training your little sweetly responsibly. Soaring wings training (on instagram and have a website) have trained multiple small birds successfully, mostly cockatiels though.

I would also recommend you look into harnesses first. If you are training free flight a harness should be doable too. Then go outside and see what happens. You may find that the risk from predators is just a risk too big to take with your lovely bird. Free flying in large indoor places is just as valuable for a little bird like a lovebird in my opinion.

also, getting your bird back from the outdoors doesn’t mean she is good for free flight. I got my lovebird Henkie back from an open window, and multiple people here recovered birds from outdoors. I am fairly sure two of my lovebirds would come back to me, but even with how trained they are, they sometimes spook by silly things.

I agree with you, Freeflight is not and should not be for all birds.
