New registered member here. Worried parrot parent to one very tame femalel parrotlet, 1 1/2 years old. Very suddenly started plucking 2 months ago and continues. Can't fly. Have increased time I handling her, but she's still plucking. Hormones?

Would a companion or mate help her? I'd even consider giving her to a flock if she'd be happier. Would she thrive in a flock if she's been hand-raised since early life? Thank you for reading this.

welcome aboard...I would recommend an avian wellness checkfrom a certified avian vet to rule out any underlying cause for the plucking other than behavior..plucking can be a result of giardia, liver disease and any number of other things mmmake sure the vet takes gram stains as well as blood works and mention the above...it also could be a behavior issue, but it is best to rule out a physical issue first as you must know what you are dealing with and if it is a physical issue, you need to treat it..good luck and welcome to the avenue!!
