Hello my feathered friends! My name's Chenmei, but please refer to me as my username. I love Conures(mint series) and diamond doves- i'm looking to breed them, but not entirely sure how mutations and colours work. Hopefully someone here will help me out! I've kept Conures for 12 years now- I have 8 currently(that i'm planning to breed). Aquamarine(Turquoise, F), Moonbeam(Mooncheek, M), Moonstone(Mooncheek, F), Wynter(Cinnamon Turquoise, F), Lapis(Pineapple Turquoise, M), Cinder(Mint, F), Platinum(Mint, M), and Azul(Turquoise, M). I haven't bred any yet(of these), because i'm not quite sure how mutations work(yes i've been living brainlessly just taking care of them and selling whatever random conures pop up every few years). I'm trying to get a line of Mint, Mooncheek, Opaline/Opamint, and Turquoise. I can buy new birds if needed. Thanks and hello again!

It is a good idea to invest in a good book you can use for reference. Something written by an expert in the field that will have the mutation equations in to help you make pairs for specific outcomes.

I'm not aware of any good books specifically on conures. I know Tony Silva is working on one. I don't keep or breed many green cheeks (I have one pair that produce yellow-sideds) but I know there are entire groups on facebook dedicated to mutations and genetics.
