I'm getting my 1st amazon parrot She will be 4 mnths old. I want to take her to work and everywhere with me Everday. Can i take her the next day or should I wait? Should I handle her on her 1st day or just put her in the cage ? Also I have a hammer handle made out of hickory and was wondering if I can make a perch out of it or will it harm her?

Hello and welcome! :hello1:

For the first couple weeks or so, I wouldn't take her out anywhere. She's going to be pretty stressed and in a new environment, so taking her to your home and then taking her to work in the next few days would be a lot for her. Let her decompress in the cage, sit next to it and talk to her, let her get used to you. I know it's exciting, but If you rush everything it will do a great deal of damage to your relationship.

Congratulations!
Fully weaned???

You want to weigh first day and every day for couple of weeks . Then weekly for life as good practice and log. Often transition they can drop weight or revert to needing a few support comfort feeds. So you want to be in top of everything. Even when they look to be eating well they might not be.

I really baby a new bird to the home. I often have my sweeter heater a radiant heat panel available off to one side. Yes even in Florida even in room temp home. It's very supportive to stressed birds
