Its been so long since i've been on here but meet my new little bubbeh!

Ive called "him" Ridley

Any chance for someone to help with possible sex and mutation? I think its a boy and its a Double Factor Dominant Pied Cobalt... (there are no markings anywhere else on his body except for the tiniest blue smudge on his breast). its roughly 6 weeks old so i know it may be WAY too young to sex yet

I have one other. Her name is Ella. Shes a rescue so im unsure of her age but the vet estimated her to be around 5-7 years right now. Shes a half english so shes bigger than normal bugs and shes quite poofy. Apparently I'm her mate hahaha. Shes always making sexy eyes at me and presenting herself, I try not to let her get all worked up.

Can you get a pic of Ridley on natural light? It would be easier to tell more on gender

Hummmmmmm.......my guess would be a girl but still hard to tell. If the cere area is a pink/purple color it's a boy but a young girl would be a blue color with white rings around the nostrils....sorry I can't be more help

@sammit, I talk to someone I know (who is a budgie expert) and sent her pics of your cutie (hope that was ok).......well, this is what she had to say:

On gender in her words:
"In fact looking at all those pics I'm pretty sure this budgie is a little girl. The cere is showing the normal colours for a young female budgie. A very light bluish mingled with white colour. She's beautiful!"

On mutation in her words:
"Since I can only see a bit of colour on her rump feathers and she hardly has any markings, I'd day she is a cobalt blue double factor dominant pied.
If she happens to not develop any iris rings as she grows into adulthood then it means apart from the dominant pied genes she also has recessive pied on her, making her a combination pied."

So I was wrong and a total rookie but CONGRATS IN YOUR LITTLE GIRL!! She is a beauty! :hug8:
